13 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”
16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” – Matthew 14:13-16
Happy September friends,
I am so excited today as we begin gearing up for the Magic City Miracle. This is a community-wide event being planned for Sunday, September 29th.
On this day, we will leave our buildings and do church in the greater Birmingham community by aiding and serving the least of these.
The reason I am so excited is that we are anticipating over 100 worksites and over 2,000 volunteers that day! You don’t have to be a church member to help out. This is just a day of people helping people. IT DOESN’T GET BETTER THAN THAT!
I have attached a link to the event website below.
Please look at it and think about where you and your family are being called to make a difference on that day. There are opportunities for all people, ages pre-school to grandparent, so bring your family and make it a day of good memories.
Be sure to register for the site you choose because many have limits and will fill up quickly.
I truly hope to see all our friends at the lunch gathering that day at Linn Park. It will be a blessing for all.
I thank You today for all the good gifts You have given me. I have more than I deserve. I seek in my heart to grow more like Jesus every day. Help me, Lord, to become more compassionate. Help me to notice the needs of others, and not just to focus on myself. Help me to teach my children what it means to be a witness for Jesus in this world.
Thank You for this opportunity to serve Your people and Your kingdom. Let Your Holy Spirit lead me to a place that transforms my heart and blesses others.
In the name of Christ I pray,
